Lopez authored one of the game's most useful reinventions. He entered the league a back-to-the-basket post scorer — Brooklyn's all-time leading scorer, who didn't make a three in his first several seasons — then rebuilt himself in Milwaukee into a floor-spacing rim protector nicknamed 'Splash Mountain.' That version anchored a championship: he was the defensive backbone of the Bucks' 2021 title run, made All-Defensive First Team in 2023, and finished runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year that same season. A 2013 All-Star, his real value is the trade-off he forces on defenses — step out to contest his three and the paint opens, sag off and he erases shots at the rim. He signed with the Clippers in 2025 to bring that two-way size to their frontcourt.
