Jaxson Hayes

Jaxson Reed Hayes, born May 23, 1999, in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an athletic center who was drafted eighth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Texas. Standing 6'11" with an elite 7'4" wingspan and rare agility for his size, Hayes is one of the most explosive rim-runners and lob threats in the NBA. His above-the-rim finishing ability and shot-blocking instincts made him a lottery pick after just one season at Texas. After four seasons in New Orleans, Hayes signed with the Lakers seeking a fresh start and a more defined role. In Los Angeles, he serves as the primary backup center, providing rim protection, energy, and verticality off the bench. While his offensive game beyond the rim remains a work in progress, his ability to finish lobs, block shots, and run the floor in transition makes him a valuable piece in the Lakers' rotation. Hayes continues to develop his overall skill set, with an improving face-up game and the physical tools to be an impact player.
