Jayden Quaintance, raised in Cleveland, Ohio, reclassified and reached college at 16, starring on the prep circuit at Hillcrest Prep and Word of God Christian Academy. As an Arizona State freshman he averaged 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 1.1 steals, earning Big 12 All-Defensive Team honors before a torn ACL in February 2025 ended his season. A transfer to Kentucky limited him to four games amid his recovery. At 6'10" with a 7'5" wingspan, Quaintance is a switchable, rim-protecting big who alters shots, rebounds his area, and runs to the rim as a lob threat. His jumper, free-throw touch, and post polish are unproven, and durability is a real question. San Antonio drafted him 20th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, betting on a young defensive anchor to develop behind Victor Wembanyama.
