Joan Beringer went 17th to Minnesota in 2025 as one of the youngest, rawest bets in the class — a French center, born in 2006, who developed in Slovenia with Cedevita Olimpija and led the ABA League in blocks before turning 19. That's the identity: a 6-foot-11 rim protector with real timing and mobility, drafted for defensive upside over a finished offensive game. His rookie minutes were limited (7.9 a night over 40 games) as the Timberwolves brought him along slowly behind their established bigs, but the flashes were loud — including a 24-point, 12-rebound, seven-block career night late in the year. For a project this young, shot-blocking that already translates is the encouraging part.
