John Tonje

John Tonje is the kind of late-blooming scorer the draft's second round exists to catch. A sixth-year wing who saved his best basketball for a lone season at Wisconsin, he poured in 19.6 points a game and dropped 41 on Arizona, becoming the first Division I player since Kemba Walker with three 30-point games against top-10 opponents. Utah took him No. 53 in 2025 on a two-way deal, but his rookie year turned into a tour — heavy G League minutes, around 18 points a night, before a February trade sent him to Boston, where the Celtics briefly carried him on a 10-day. The tape shows a genuine bucket-getter who scores off movement; the question at 24 is whether the defense and playmaking round out enough to stick. His NBA foothold is unsettled heading into the offseason.
