Julian Champagnie is the archetype of a 3-and-D wing who turned a waiver-wire flier into a long-term Spurs role. Undrafted out of St. John's in 2022, where he starred alongside twin brother Justin, he built his value the unglamorous way: guarding up a position, spacing the floor, and never needing plays called for him. Then 2025-26 became a leap. He set the Spurs' single-season record with 195 made threes and once dropped a franchise-record 11 in a single night against the Knicks, scoring 36 points. His floor-spacing and low-maintenance shot diet helped San Antonio reach the 2026 NBA Finals. The tell on Champagnie is efficiency-per-usage: he produces winning minutes without the ball, which is exactly why the Spurs handed him a new three-year deal.
