Kevin Huerter is a big, sweet-shooting wing whose outside stroke and secondary playmaking have made him a valued rotation piece across several teams. The 19th pick in 2018 out of Maryland — 'Red Velvet' — he broke in with the Atlanta Hawks and later starred as a floor-spacer for the Sacramento Kings before stops in Chicago and, after a February 2026 trade, the Detroit Pistons, where he re-signed. In 2025-26 he averaged around 10 points a game across the two teams. At 6-foot-7 with deep range and good size for a guard, Huerter is a reliable connective shooter who keeps an offense spaced.

Did You Know?
His nickname 'Red Mamba' is a nod to his red hair and the same cold-blooded clutch shooting that defined Kobe Bryant's 'Black Mamba' persona.
Huerter is one of the few naturally left-handed shooters in the NBA, giving his shot an unusual trajectory that is notoriously difficult for defenders to time.
He grew up in Clifton Park, New York — a community near Albany that has produced several high-level college athletes.
Huerter was part of the 2021 Atlanta Hawks team that shocked the NBA world by reaching the Eastern Conference Finals as a 5-seed after Trae Young caught fire.
