#10 All-Time Steals Leader
2,075 steals#10 All-Time
Tenth on the all-time steals list with 2,075. Led the league in steals twice (1997, 1998).
Mookie Blaylock played point guard like a pickpocket — patient, calculating, and gone before you noticed. Across 13 seasons with the Nets, Hawks and Warriors, he turned defense into offense better than almost anyone of his era, leading the NBA in steals in back-to-back seasons (1996-97 and 1997-98) and earning six All-Defensive selections. His lone All-Star nod came in 1994, but the tape tells the fuller story: full-court pressure, disciplined hands, and an early comfort behind the arc that was ahead of its time — he set the Hawks' single-season three-point record in 1995-96. He remains Atlanta's all-time steals leader with 1,321. Blaylock's game was never loud, but for a decade it quietly bent opposing offenses out of shape.
