Morez Johnson Jr.

Morez Keith Johnson Jr., a Riverdale, Illinois native and 2024 Illinois Mr. Basketball out of Thornton Township, began his college career at Illinois before transferring to Michigan. As a freshman with the Illini he averaged 7.0 points and 6.7 rebounds on 64% shooting, then broke out for the 2026 national champion Wolverines at 13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks on 62.3% from the field across 40 starts, earning All-Big Ten second team and Big Ten All-Defensive honors. A 6'9", 250-pound interior force, Johnson is a high-motor rim runner, offensive rebounder and switchable, physical defender, but a limited perimeter shot and unpolished passing cap his offensive ceiling to a play-finisher role. Dallas selected him ninth overall in 2026, reuniting him with title-winning Michigan coach Dusty May and projecting him as an energy big and interior defensive anchor.
