Queta became the first Portuguese player to appear in the NBA in 2021, a 39th pick by Sacramento out of Utah State. Boston signed him to a two-way deal, converted it, and in June 2024 he became the first player from Portugal to win an NBA title, logging minutes in the Finals along the way. The real opening came in 2025-26: with Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford gone, he started 75 games and set career highs of 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while shooting above 65%. Boston gave him a four-year, $56 million extension in July 2026, then signed Mitchell Robinson. The money buys security, not the starting job, and that competition is the storyline of his season.
