Paul Clifton Anthony George, born May 2, 1990, in Palmdale, California, is an American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers. After two seasons at Fresno State, he was drafted 10th overall by the Indiana Pacers in 2010. George blossomed quickly in Indiana, earning Most Improved Player in 2013 and powering Pacers teams that twice pushed the LeBron James-era Miami Heat to the Eastern Conference Finals. In the summer of 2014, he suffered a gruesome compound leg fracture during a USA Basketball scrimmage, an injury that cost him nearly the entire 2014-15 season. He returned to an All-NBA level the following year, cementing his reputation for resilience. Traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017, he paired with Russell Westbrook and posted some of his best two-way seasons, finishing third in MVP voting in 2018-19. He was then moved to the LA Clippers in 2019 to team with Kawhi Leonard, and the duo led a contender that reached the Western Conference Finals in 2021. In 2024 free agency, George signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. A long, switchable two-way wing, he is an elite perimeter defender and a high-volume three-level scorer. His accolades include multiple NBA All-Star selections, several All-NBA Team honors, and multiple All-Defensive Team selections, marking him among his era's premier two-way forwards.
