Detroit took Ron Holland fifth overall in 2024, betting on the two-way upside he flashed as one of the final G League Ignite prospects. In his second season he settled into a bench role, averaging about 8.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals over 78 games — steady counting numbers that undersell what he actually does well. Holland's calling card is defense and transition: he's a disruptive, long-armed wing who turns steals into easy baskets and competes across multiple positions. The honest holdup is the jumper. He hit only around 25% from three in 2025-26, and until defenses have to respect that shot, they can sag off and shrink his driving lanes. That's the swing skill for his career — the motor and defensive feel are already NBA-caliber.
