Castle was the fourth pick in 2024 and won Rookie of the Year for 2024-25 with 92 first-place votes, averaging 14.7 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds across 81 games. He was the only player in his draft class to pass 1,000 points, reached double figures in a rookie-record 60 games for that class, and took MVP honours at the 2025 Rising Stars game. The second season was the real jump: 16.7 points, 7.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds on 47.1 percent shooting, and a run to the 2026 Finals. The assist total nearly doubling in year two is the number that matters: San Antonio drafted a scoring guard and appears to have developed a lead creator instead.
