Doug McDermott, born January 3, 1992, in Ames, Iowa, is one of the most decorated shooters in college basketball history and a dependable NBA sharpshooter whose career has spanned more than a decade of professional play. The son of longtime Creighton head coach Greg McDermott, Doug grew up immersed in basketball culture, learning the craft of shooting, spacing, and off-ball movement from one of the most respected shooting coaches in the college game. McDermott's four seasons at Creighton were exceptional. He won the Oscar Robertson Trophy as the nation's best player in 2014, scoring over 3,150 career points — the most in Creighton and Big East history. His combination of shooting touch, footwork, and basketball IQ made him a consensus lottery selection despite not having elite athleticism, and the Chicago Bulls selected him 11th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. His NBA career has been defined by efficiency, consistency, and the ability to fit into multiple offensive systems as a floor spacer and cutter. After stints in Chicago, Oklahoma City, New York, Dallas, and San Antonio — where he thrived in Gregg Popovich's system — McDermott joined the Sacramento Kings, where his veteran presence and shooting reliability provide a steadying influence in a rotation that values spacing above all else. At 33 years old, McDermott continues to be a professional's professional — a player who understands his role, maximizes it, and makes defenses pay for leaving him open.

Did You Know?
McDermott was coached by his father Greg in college at Creighton — a unique dynamic that gave him the most basketball-intensive upbringing imaginable.
He scored over 3,000 career college points, a feat achieved by fewer than 100 players in the history of Division I basketball.
Despite being considered a 'tweener' athletically, McDermott has carved out an 11-year NBA career through pure skill and professional preparation.
He is one of the few active players whose father is also a current college head coach — Greg McDermott remains at Creighton.
