Slawson is the rare two-way name who won on defense first. At Furman he was the 2022 Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and 2023 SoCon Player of the Year, then authored one of March's best moments — 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Paladins' 68-67 upset of No. 4 Virginia in 2023. Sacramento took him 54th that June. His NBA path has been patient: a quiet two-way rookie year with the Kings, an Exhibit 10 detour through Orlando, then Indiana, where a February 2026 two-way turned into 13 games and career highs of 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists. His real 2025-26 resume was in the G League — All-Defensive honors and 19.3 points a night for Noblesville. He entered the offseason a restricted free agent, betting the versatility finally sticks at the NBA level.
