Kevin Durant

Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C., and grew up primarily in Prince George's County, Maryland — a basketball-rich region whose influence is evident in the instinctive quality of his game. Raised largely by his mother, Wanda Durant, he developed an intensity and hunger that defined his trajectory from playground prodigy to the most gifted scorer of his generation. Durant played one season at the University of Texas (2006-07), averaging 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds — winning every major college player of the year award available. Seattle selected him 2nd overall in 2007. Within two seasons the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City, where Durant spent nine years establishing himself as the second-best player in the world: four scoring titles, the 2014 MVP, and a Finals appearance in 2012 that he and Russell Westbrook came within one game of winning.
