A Mobile, Alabama native who starred at Baker High and Link Academy, Philon spent two seasons at Alabama. After an All-Freshman debut, he broke out as a sophomore, averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds on roughly 50/40/80 shooting splits to earn First-Team All-SEC and consensus Third-Team All-American honors. He elevated further in the NCAA tournament, posting 24.3 points and 7.7 assists over three games before Michigan ended Alabama's run in the Sweet Sixteen. His herky-jerky change-of-pace drives and pick-and-roll manipulation drew Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stylistic comparisons, but at a shade over 6-foot-2 barefoot with a modest 6-foot-6 wingspan, his finishing and point-of-attack defense will be tested. Philadelphia took him 22nd overall on June 23, 2026, projecting a shifty secondary ball-handler and shot-creator in the backcourt rotation.
