Pacome Dadiet was always a bet on the future. New York took the French wing 25th overall in 2024 when he was still a teenager fresh off a season with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, wagering that his size, feel and shooting stroke would round into a rotation piece down the line. Two years in, the developmental path has been deliberate — sparse NBA minutes behind a deep, win-now Knicks roster, with regular trips to Westchester for real reps. He was on the bench when New York won the 2026 title, a champion at 20 without yet earning a defined role. That's the trade-off of drafting long: patience now for a projectable 6-foot-8 two-way wing later. The tools are still there; the runway is the whole point.
