Oklahoma City Thunder
2025-present
No. 15 overall pick (2025)
Selected 15th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder after one season at Georgetown.
Historic Georgetown freshman
The first Georgetown freshman ever drafted into the NBA after averaging 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks with the Hoyas.
Season-ending torn ACL
Tore the ACL in his right knee during a workout before the season and missed his entire rookie year — the second straight Thunder first-rounder to lose a season to an ACL tear.
Oklahoma City's 15th pick in 2025, Sorber arrived from Georgetown as a physical, defensively-minded big — a 6-foot-10 freshman who averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks and became the first Georgetown freshman ever drafted into the NBA. His pro debut has to wait, though: a torn ACL in his right knee, suffered during a workout in Oklahoma City before the season, cost him the entire 2025-26 campaign. It's a cruel echo for the Thunder, whose 2024 lottery pick Nikola Topic lost his rookie year to the same injury — but it also lands Sorber in a franchise with a proven blueprint for rehabbing young bigs without rushing them. What made him a first-rounder still projects: rim protection, passing feel for a center, and the frame to anchor a defense. The evaluation simply resets to 2026-27, when the healthy version finally suits up.
