Did You Know?
Murphy was drafted by the Golden State Warriors and immediately traded to New Orleans on draft night — making his Warriors career last approximately 45 minutes.
He transferred from Rice to Virginia specifically to develop under Tony Bennett's system — a deliberate choice that added the defensive discipline missing from his early college game.
Murphy has quietly become one of the best young wing players in the Western Conference, with shooting numbers that rival the league's best spot-up threats.
He grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia — part of the Atlanta basketball pipeline that has produced numerous NBA players over the past two decades.
