Did You Know?
Chamberlain scored 100 points in a single NBA game on March 2, 1962 — a record that has stood for over 60 years and is widely considered the most unbreakable individual game record in major American sports.
He averaged 50.4 points per game for the entire 1961-62 season — a statistical achievement so far beyond anything before or since that even many dedicated basketball historians struggle to contextualize it.
Chamberlain never fouled out of a single NBA game in his entire professional career — remarkable given that opposing teams' primary defensive strategy was often to foul him to disrupt his dominance.
He was so dominant in college that the NCAA introduced new rules specifically to limit his advantage — including widening the lane and prohibiting offensive players from guiding their own free throws — rules unofficially known as 'the Wilt rules.'
