Icons who defined the franchise's identity
Numbers raised to the rafters forever
The Philadelphia 76ers trace their origins to 1946 as the Syracuse Nationals, one of the founding members of the NBL. The Nationals won the 1955 NBA championship before relocating to Philadelphia in 1963 and becoming the 76ers. Wilt Chamberlain led the 1967 squad — widely considered one of the greatest teams ever assembled — to a dominant championship run with a 68-13 record. Julius "Dr. J" Erving brought electrifying play and a championship in 1983 with the "Fo', Fi', Fo'" playoff run alongside Moses Malone. Allen Iverson's legendary 2001 Finals run against the Lakers captivated the basketball world. The franchise underwent "The Process" rebuild in the 2010s, drafting Joel Embiid to anchor their championship aspirations.
