Douglas Richard McDermott is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). While playing college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays, McDermott led the nation in scoring in 2013–14 and was a three-time consensus first-team All-American. He was the consensus national player of the year as a senior in 2014, and finished his college career with the fifth-most points in NCAA Division I men's basketball history.

McDermott was coached by his father Greg in college at Creighton — a unique dynamic that gave him the most basketball-intensive upbringing imaginable.
He scored over 3,000 career college points, a feat achieved by fewer than 100 players in the history of Division I basketball.
Despite being considered a 'tweener' athletically, McDermott has carved out an 11-year NBA career through pure skill and professional preparation.
He is one of the few active players whose father is also a current college head coach — Greg McDermott remains at Creighton.
