Durant was the second overall pick of the 2007 draft — chosen one slot behind Greg Oden, who was plagued by injuries throughout his career. That draft decision is widely regarded as one of the most lopsided in NBA history.
His 2013-14 MVP acceptance speech, in which he looked at his mother Wanda and said 'You the real MVP,' brought audiences to tears worldwide and became one of basketball's most cherished moments.
Durant grew from 6'0" to 6'10" during his high school years — an extraordinary growth spurt that, combined with his guard-trained handles and footwork, produced the 'unicorn' skill set that basketball had never seen at his size.
He and Russell Westbrook formed one of the most explosive backcourt/wing pairings in NBA history at OKC — their partnership produced four Thunder seasons with 50+ wins and the 2012 Finals appearance.
