Portland drafted Carrington 14th in 2024, then flipped him to Washington, where the Pittsburgh guard grew up fast. He played all 82 games as a 19-year-old — the first Wizards rookie to do that since 1981 — set a franchise rookie record with 138 threes, and earned All-Rookie Second Team. Year two was streakier: a cold, lost-looking start, a scorching January, then another dip, landing at 10.7 points and 4.6 assists. The encouraging thread was the shooting — 40% from three on nearly seven attempts a night, real growth for a lead guard. His availability is its own asset; through two seasons he has missed zero games, something only Wes Unseld Sr. had done in franchise history. Consistency, not ceiling, is what he is still chasing.
