D'Angelo Russell

Russell entered the league as the second pick of the 2015 draft, the kind of silky lead guard whose game was always about rhythm and touch more than raw burst. He earned an All-Rookie nod in Los Angeles, then found his footing in Brooklyn, where a 2019 All-Star selection cemented him as a legitimate shot-creating point guard. Since then he has become one of the more traveled starters around — stops with the Warriors, Timberwolves and Lakers before landing in Washington — valued everywhere for his pull-up shooting and pick-and-roll craft. The scouting book on him rarely changes: give him a ball screen and a little room and he punishes a soft drop coverage, though the defensive end remains the swing factor in how heavily a team can lean on him.
