Dalton Knecht entered the league as a bucket-getter — a 2024 first-rounder many pegged as a steal whose calling card is shooting. As a rookie he flashed real microwave scoring, spotting up, sprinting off screens, and heating up in stretches that reminded everyone why he starred at Tennessee. His sophomore year was a harder lesson: on a deeper, more competitive Lakers roster he slid out of the rotation, and his output dipped to about 4.2 points a night on cold shooting. The skill that defines him is movement shooting, but to stay on the floor he needs to round out the rest — defense, decision-making, and finding ways to help on nights the jumper isn't falling. Still early in his career, Knecht remains a high-upside scorer whose path in Los Angeles hinges on turning flashes into a dependable rotation role.
