Javon Small made scouts work to find him — three schools in four years before a breakout senior season at West Virginia, where he ran the show for 18.6 points and 5.6 assists a night. Memphis took the 6-foot-2 guard 48th overall in 2025 and signed him to a two-way, and he wasted little time justifying the pick. As a rookie he appeared in 41 games with a dozen starts, averaging close to 10 points and better than 40 percent from three — unusually efficient perimeter shooting for a downhill guard with a 40-inch vertical. What stands out isn't the athleticism, which is obvious, but the pace: Small plays under control, picks his spots, and reads the pick-and-roll like a veteran. For a second-round two-way, that's the profile of someone who sticks.
