Monk went eleventh in 2017 to Charlotte, spent four uneven seasons there, then a rebuilding year with the Lakers, and found an actual role in Sacramento from 2022 — instant offence off the bench, with enough passing to run a second unit. Across his career he has averaged 12.3 points and 3.1 assists. His 2025-26 was a step back: 12.5 points in 22.0 minutes across 62 games, his lowest minutes total since 2020-21, with Sacramento adding another creator to the second unit. He remains one of the more reliable sources of bench scoring in the league when the minutes are there, and the passing he added in Sacramento is what separated him from the pure-scorer label he carried out of Charlotte.

Defensive Game
Effort is there but size and length limit his defensive impact against bigger guards. Has improved positioning and communication with experience.
Intangibles
Has matured significantly from his Charlotte days. Better shot selection, smarter off-ball movement, and improved understanding of when to attack versus defer.

Did You Know?
Monk scored 29 points in a single quarter during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers — one of the most prolific single-quarter outbursts in recent NBA memory.
He grew up in a tiny Arkansas town with a population under 2,000 people, making his NBA career path all the more remarkable.
His older brother Darius also played professionally and was a constant training partner who helped push Malik to develop his scoring instincts.
Monk is known for wearing #0 as a nod to starting from nothing — a mindset he developed growing up in rural Arkansas.
