The players who defined Brooklyn Nets basketball. Icons who shaped the franchise and left a legacy that endures.
Numbers hanging in the rafters at Barclays Center. The players who gave everything to Brooklyn Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets have a rich history spanning two leagues and three states. Founded in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans in the ABA, the franchise became the New York Nets and won two ABA championships in 1974 and 1976 behind the legendary Julius "Dr. J" Erving. After joining the NBA in 1976, the team moved to New Jersey and spent decades building competitive teams. The Jason Kidd-led squads reached back-to-back NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003. The franchise relocated to Brooklyn in 2012, opening the Barclays Center and ushering in a new era. The 2019 arrivals of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving signaled championship ambitions, though injuries and trades reshaped the roster. The Nets continue to rebuild with a young core under new leadership.
