Numbers hanging in the rafters at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The players who gave everything to Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were founded in 1970 and built competitive teams through the decades, but their defining moment came with LeBron James. Drafted first overall in 2003 as a hometown hero from Akron, James carried the Cavs to the 2007 Finals before his controversial departure to Miami in 2010. His triumphant return in 2014 led to four consecutive Finals appearances and the franchise's first championship in 2016 — one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history, overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the 73-9 Warriors. The Cavaliers have rebuilt around a young, dynamic core featuring Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, returning to championship contention as one of the Eastern Conference's elite teams.
Selected first overall in 1986, Brad Daugherty became the most complete center the Cleveland Cavaliers had ever seen — a five-time All-Star whose career was cut short by injury at age 28.

No team had ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals. The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers did it against a 73-win Warriors team to end a 52-year Cleveland sports drought.
